SZ welcomes Haifeng vessel with tuna haul

The Haifeng 668 vessel, departing from the Pacific archipelago of Kiribati-Tarawa, made port at Shenzhen Xiaomo International Logistics Port on Friday, carrying a substantial cargo of 1,090 tons of tuna. 


This was the first deep-sea fishing ship that offloaded goods at the Xiaomo Port following its formal commencement of operations at the close of 2021. The docking of the Haifeng 668 ship underscores a pivotal stride for the Xiaomo port in broadening its commercial scope and bolstering port competitiveness.

Shenzhen stands as a key hub in Guangdong's offshore fishing sector, with its fleet and economic output constituting approximately 60% of the province's totals. With a focus on transforming into a maritime central city, Shenzhen has proactively aimed to expand its offshore fishing industry, promote fishery industry clustering, and cultivate a premium aquatic product market in the Greater Bay Area.


Set to take place from May 17-19 at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center in Futian District, the 2024 Shenzhen Fisheries Expo will spotlight the city's maritime economy, ocean fishing, offshore fishing, and aquaculture across 12 exhibition segments, encompassing a sprawling 45,000 square meters. Anticipated to draw more than 80,000 industry professionals spanning domestic and international importers, exporters, wholesalers, distributors, e-commerce platforms, and food delivery enterprises, the event will showcase diverse market offerings and opportunities.


Industry behemoths like China National Agricultural Development Group Co. Ltd., Shenzhen Port Group, Shenzhen Nongke Group, Liancheng Overseas Fishery, and South China Fisheries Group are slated to participate in the expo, spotlighting premium products at the expo. 


The upcoming expo is poised to deliver a lineup of attractions, including the Tuna Cutting Show, Greater Bay Area Food Culture Summit, Global Seafood Sashimi Art Competition, Asia International Chef Challenge, coral adoption initiatives, diving planting experiences, alongside novel exhibitions showcasing corals, koi fish, and goldfish, promising a diverse and engaging experience for visitors.
