Yongxing Bridge, located in Qingping Ancient Market in Bao’an District’s Xinqiao Community, is the only remaining ancient three-hole stone arch bridge in Shenzhen, boasting a history of more than 300 years.
Built during Emperor Kangxi’s reign (1622-1722), the 50-meter-long, 3.4-meter-wide granite bridge has a name that translates to mean “long-lasting prosperity.” In 1785, the decaying Yongxing Bridge underwent a round of renovation with funds raised from local residents. According to historical records, Yongxing Bridge once played a key role in the area’s transportation and economic development. Throughout the Qing Dynasty (1636-1912), many important sites, such as Qingping Market and Guang’an Pawnshop that was later converted into Xinqiao Granary, were built near it. Standing on the bridge, you can still see many of these well-preserved buildings today.

After Yongxing Bridge was included on the list of Shenzhen’s fourth batch of cultural relics protection units in 1984, the bridge, the man-made lake under it and the ancient market subsequently underwent another round of renovation. The renovated Yongxing Bridge has since become a popular tourist site.
