Exhilarating boxing performances, rappelling skill demonstrations, police dog explosive detection shows, paintball shooting, simulated driving, and displays of police gear captivated visitors at Shenzhen Police Training Center on Qiaocheng East Road, the main venue of the 16th Shenzhen Police Open Day, on Sunday.

The event was simultaneously held at 13 subvenues and 11 locations across the city, showcasing the police's work in exit-entry administration, public safety, traffic management, special operations, cyber safety, and fighting terrorism and drugs. It attracted a total of more than 500,000 visits.

Through the event, visitors learned more about policing, improved their awareness of telecommunication scams and illegal drugs, and experienced the high technologies that are applied in police gear.

Twenty activities were held at the main venue, which lured over 110,000 participants, including a lecture on telecommunication scams, an exhibition of police equipment , and shows of combat skills and anti-riot tactics.

The Open Day started with a choir performance at 10 a.m., followed by police performances, and police dogs searching for explosives and illegal drugs in luggage.

Traffic police officers impressed visitors with their motorbike skills, as well as their efficiency in handling emergencies such as rushing injured people to the hospital.

A parent surnamed Xiao said he came all the way from Guangzhou because his child had a particular fascination with police. He brought his child and nephew to the Open Day and even purchased police outfits for them online.

Another visitor surnamed Huang, who used to attend a police school but is now in another line of work, took her two children to a subvenue in Longgang District.

"My children are very fond of the police, and whenever they saw motorcycles or police cars on the street, they would get excited," she said.
