SZ's twin sisters win gold in Hangzhou

Twin sisters Wang Liuyi and Wang Qianyi from Nanshan, Shenzhen, lived up to their billing as favorites as they took duet gold at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou yesterday.

The sisters had already led the artistic swimming competition after technical routine, carrying an advantage of nearly 13 points over their closest competitors, Japan's Yasunaga Mashiro and Higa Moe.


The twin sisters performed a cheetah-themed free routine, obtaining a score of 266.5767 with a difficulty mark of 40.05, more than three full points in difficulty ahead of any other team. That gave the Wang twins a total of 526.8620, more than 34 points clear of Yasunaga and Higa.

By winning gold, Wang Qianyi and Wang Liuyi also obtained a Paris 2024 quota for China in the duet event.
