Longhua District introduced its talent measures including generous subsidies to attract quality social workers to enhance its grass-roots governance at a meeting Sunday, Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported.

Under the measures that took effect July 1, top professional social workers can receive a subsidy of up to 500,000 yuan (US$77,100) along with housing benefits, district officials said.

Another subsidy of 5,000 yuan to 30,000 yuan will be given to key social workers in 16 fields including sanitation and health, community construction and services for the disabled each year.

In addition, Longhua District aims to introduce outstanding and highly influential social work representatives to set up studios in Longhua.

Such studio will be offered a startup fund of 300,000 yuan to organize social work exchanges and dialogues in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area that will be held in Longhua.

The measures are the first district-level talent supporting measures issued for social workers, according to the report.
