Vehicles entering Dapeng Peninsula as well as Dameisha and Xiaomeisha are required to make reservations during the seven-day National Day holiday, which lasts from Saturday to Oct. 7, the city’s traffic police bureau said.

The requirement applies to vehicles that can hold nine passengers at most. After a reservation is made, the vehicle is allowed to enter the areas during the designated time periods, but it can leave at any time.

Citizens can make reservations via the WeChat account “szjjqwfb” (深圳交警权威发布), then choose “线上服务” and “预约通行,” select the date and time period, fill in the vehicle’s license plate number, and submit the information. Visitors will receive a text message upon a successful booking.

Registered vehicles, buses, taxis, police cars, fire engines, ambulances, engineering rescue vehicles, 10 or more-seater vehicles and those transiting Yanba Expressway to Huizhou City and other cities will not be impacted by the travel restrictions.

During the holiday, the city’s various scenic spots will expect a surge of tourists and vehicles.

To ensure smooth traffic in scenic spots, the city’s traffic police will carry out targeted measures in some scenic spots, strengthen traffic control in popular tourist attractions and commercial areas, and strictly deal with illegal vehicle parking.

Traffic police will also carry out tough enforcement of drunk- driving laws.

Meanwhile, Metro lines (excluding Line 20) will extend service for one hour to midnight on three days — Friday, Saturday and Oct. 7 — to meet the holiday travel demand, Shenzhen Metro Group said.

Metro lines 1, 3, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10 and 11 will further extend the final train service by 30-40 minutes after regular service is over.

Shenzhen’s railways are expected to handle 3.25 million passenger trips, or an average of 295,000 each day, between Sept. 28 and Oct. 8. Most of the passengers are intercity travelers within the province, according to the railway authority.

According to the local meteorological observatory, the city’s weather is generally stable before and during the National Day holiday, with temperature drops and rain showers expected near the end of the holiday.

The health commission reminds residents to take necessary protective measures when going to public places such as shopping malls, supermarkets and catering businesses.

Citizens are urged to avoid entering shopping malls and supermarkets during peak hours. They are also reminded to scan venue codes and undergo temperature checks before entering catering businesses, wash hands before meals, avoid direct contact with public items, and wear masks when not having meals.
