A new intelligent community library for children opened recently in Fengjing Community, Taoyuan Subdistrict in Nanshan District, Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported yesterday.

The library has collected more than 500 children’s audio-enabled books, facilitating a connection between children and books, so that children can be more enveloped in literature, and fall in love with reading.

Books at the library are suitable for kids from age 0 to 8, and include picture books, classic fairy tales and English nursery rhymes.

When the tip of a special pen clicks the book, corresponding content is read aloud.

Gu Qiaohong, a mother and a volunteer of the library, said, “My kid cannot read words at the moment, nor can I read stories for my child vividly enough. But in here, my child can read independently, and I can acquire some storytelling skills.” Gu is one of 19 mothers to volunteer at the library.

After some training and passing a test, mothers can share stories with the visiting children in the library.

The library is divided into four sections: one for children to read independently, one for children and parents to read together, one for storytelling by volunteers and one for parents to share their experience in raising children.
