Officials from Qianhai authority and the city government inspected Block 3 of Unit 19 in Qianhai this morning to address problems of the supporting facilities in the area.

The inspection team convened a coordination meeting at Heungkong Financial Center after visiting Qianhai Free Trade Building, SF Express Headquarters Building and Shimao Qianhai Center.

The meeting, attended by Tian Fu, member of the Standing Committee of the Shenzhen Municipal Committee of the CPC and director of the Authority of China (Guangdong) Pilot Free Trade Zone Qianhai & Shekou Area, and Du Peng, director of Qianhai Cooperation Zone Authority, focused on issues regarding the construction of supporting facilities in Block 3 of Unit 19, including public transport, parking places, lighting facility and security post setups, to attract more companies to settle there.

“We need to pay attention to every part of Qianhai when developing it,” Tian said. “In 2015, we proposed to develop Guiwan Area, which covers 1.1 square kilometers, into a leading financial zone. Later in Qianwan area we introduced some innovative enterprises from Hong Kong to build a Shenzhen-Hong Kong innovation area. As for the Mawan area, where Block 3 of Unit 19 is located, we want to build it into a modern free trade town based on logistics.”

An official with the city’s transport bureau said at the meeting that the extensions of Metro lines 5 and 9 will be put into operation at the end of this year. The Railway Park Station of Line 5 lies in the east of the block.

According to the city’s urban planning standards and rules, the block should have at least 1,622 parking spaces. Currently there are 1,977 parking spaces in this area, which meets the standard.

To better carry out Qianhai’s “enterprises return” project, the city’s transport bureau will work to improve the public transport service and increase the parking spaces in the block to attract enterprises.

Tian stressed that supporting facilities is a big concern for enterprises to settle down in the block and need strong supports from the government.

Apart from the hard supporting facilities, Du said soft supporting facilities including catering, gyms, culture facilities and community health service centers are also important to provide a better environment for enterprises and their employees.

There are seven industry projects in Block 3 of Unit 19, which has a planned capacity building area of 468,000 square meters. A total of 418,000 square meters are office area and 60,000 are commercial area (including 10,000 square meter of underground commerce). Currently, four projects including Qianhai Sinlikon Centre, Heungkong Financial Center and Qianhai Free Trade Zone Building are already in operation.

Qianhai and other competent authorities are speeding up the construction of supporting facilities. It’s expected that a total of 334,000 square meters of office space will be available in the block by the end of 2019.
