A program designed to enhance technological collaboration among young professionals from Shenzhen, Hong Kong, and Macao was inaugurated at the Shenzhen-Hong Kong International Science Park in the Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone (HTCZ) yesterday.

Developed through a partnership between the Hong Kong Young Scientist Association, the Shenzhen Municipal Committee of the Communist Youth League of China, and other institutions, the program seeks to facilitate tech-related visits to Shenzhen for over 1,000 doctors from Hong Kong and Macao over the next three years.

The launch ceremony saw the participation of around 200 doctors who graduated from universities in Hong Kong and Macao. Following the event, they were divided into three groups to visit BYD's headquarters in Pingshan, Guangming Science City, and X-Lake Sciensity.

At the ceremony, Zhu Junwei, deputy director of the HTCZ authority, encouraged professionals from Hong Kong and Macao to expand their businesses, and to innovate, creating new products and markets in Hetao.

"Industrial development can progress alongside policy support. Hetao has put into effect comprehensive and suitable measures to bolster research and development, industrialization, and entrepreneurship," Zhu said.

Gao Bo, executive chairman of the Hong Kong Young Scientist Association, reflected on the initiative's intention during yesterday's interview, saying, "We aim to facilitate cooperation between Hong Kong and Shenzhen in terms of talent exchange and the development of technological research projects. Over the next three years, we will be organizing visits for young professionals in various fields, including AI, biotech, and robotics, to Shenzhen, thereby expanding cooperation and advancing industrial complementarity."

"Hong Kong and Shenzhen should develop hand in hand, as their respective strengths complement each other," said Chen Qingquan, initiator of the International Academician Science and Technology Innovation Center, one of the program's supporting institutions.

He emphasized that Hong Kong excels in basic research and finance, while Shenzhen holds an advantage in applied research and high-tech enterprises. "By sharing resources, we can fully leverage the advantages of both cities, thereby reaping mutual benefits," Chen added.

He also urged young professionals to seek global collaborations to integrate more resources for greater achievements.

Hao Xiaotian, co-founder of Artificial Intelligence Farm and Technology Hong Kong Co. Ltd., viewed the program as an opportunity to forge connections with Shenzhen companies involved in automation and AI.
