City’s foreign trade hits ¥3.16T in 11 months

Shenzhen's foreign trade reached 3.16 trillion yuan (US$495.88 million) between January and November, exceeding last year’s 3.05 trillion yuan and up by 15.1 percent, statistics from Shenzhen Customs showed Tuesday.


Data showed positive foreign trade growth for 13 months running. In the first 11 months, the city’s exports increased by 12.6 percent to 1.71 trillion yuan and imports increased by 18.2 percent to 1.45 trillion yuan, according to customs.


In terms of exports, consumer electronic products saw rapid growth. Between January and November, exports of computers, telecommunications and other electronic equipment reached 1.83 trillion yuan, up by 17.6 percent year on year. Among them, exports of consumer electronic products such as mobile phones, panel computers and LCDs maintained two-digit growth.


Imports and exports of the electrical and equipment manufacturing industry reached 363.1 billion yuan, up by 21.6 percent. Imports of electrical and mechanical products reached 1.15 trillion yuan, up 13.7 percent year on year, accounting for 79.4 percent of the total imports in 11 months.


In these 11 months, Shenzhen’s general trade, processing trade and bonded logistics saw rapid growth as well. General trade volume reached 1.57 trillion yuan, up 15.7 percent and took up 49.8 percent of the total foreign trade volume. Processing trade and bonded logistics also increased by 14.3 percent and 16.2 percent, respectively.


Trade with Shenzhen’s major trade partners all increased. Trade with Hong Kong, ASEAN and EU increased by 17.6 percent, 10 percent and 14.8 percent, respectively. At the same time, trade with RCEP (Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership) countries and central and eastern European countries increased by 11.8 and 22.4 percent, respectively.


Private enterprises’ foreign trade took up 60.9 percent of the city’s total foreign trade and reached 1.92 trillion yuan in 11 months, up 17.6 percent year on year.
