China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Shenzhen Municipal Committee (CCPIT Shenzhen) has taken a raft of measures to address the difficulties that many local enterprises have encountered when engaging in foreign trade amid the recent COVID-19 outbreak, Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported yesterday.

An international logistics company in Yantian District was one of the local enterprises that recently sought CCPIT Shenzhen’s help after the Yantian port reported an imported COVID-19 outbreak last month.

Stringent disinfection and quarantine measures were imposed at the Yantian Port area in the face of the outbreak. The port once suspended receiving export containers, leading to severe delays and congestion for carriers.

The company faced penalty fines for the delay. CCPIT Shenzhen issued a proof letter of the port’s limited service for the company, which helped lessened the company’s liability for the delay, according to the Daily report.

Recent lockdown measures imposed in several industrial areas in Longgang District also caused businesses difficult situations. Some 40 warehouses inside the industrial areas were not able to dispatch goods as planned. Under CCPIT Shenzhen’s advice, warehouse operators released statements, in which the companies use CCPIT Shenzhen’s international credibility to postpone delivery deadlines and reduce losses.

“Quite a few enterprises recognize their (CCPIT Shenzhen’s) measures,” said a representative of an affected enterprise in Longgang District. “We have started preparing documents and proofs to reduce losses as much as possible.”

In another development, CCPIT Shenzhen recently opened a green channel for the export of the inactivated vaccine against the coronavirus developed by Shenzhen-based Kangtai biological company to Paksitan, cutting the processing time from one month to two weeks. China gave emergency use approval to the Kangtai vaccine in mid-May.

CCPIT Shenzhen said that it has handled 2,022 business-related proof documents and opened green channels to shorten procedures for 36 files recognized by foreign embassies and consulates.
