On August 5, due to heavy rainfall in Guangdong, airports in Guangzhou and Shenzhen experienced extensive delays, while rail services were partially suspended and some roads were disrupted.

Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport and Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport faced significant flight delays. At 14:29 on August 5, 120 flights at Guangzhou Airport remained grounded, with delays exceeding one hour. Shenzhen Airport had canceled 50 inbound and outbound flights scheduled for August 5 and 6. Further delays are anticipated at both airports.

For rail services, according to China Railway Guangzhou Group, the Guangzhou-Shenzhen Intercity Railway was partially suspended on August 5. There was a full suspension of conventional-speed trains serving the Qingyuan section of the Beijing-Guangzhou Railway from 12:00 on August 5 to 14:00 on August 6. Beijing-Kowloon Railway conventional-speed trains will gradually resume service starting at 14:00 on August 6.

Shenzhen Railway authorities reported multiple conventional-speed train cancellations for both August 5 and 6, along with intercity railway speed restrictions and varying delays. Currently, high-speed rail services at Shenzhen North Station are operating normally. Passengers can find more details and request refunds through the 12306 website or app.

On the highway network, two sections of the Guangzhou-Foshan-Zhaoqing Expressway were affected by debris flows during the evening of August 4, with no casualties reported. As of 15:00 on August 5, cleanup operations were ongoing, resulting in the closure of three entrances: Dinghu (鼎湖, Guangxi-bound lanes), Duanzhou (端州, both directions), and Xiaoxiang (小湘, Guangzhou-bound lanes), along with traffic controls.

The Qingyuan-Yunfu Expressway also reported a debris flow, leading to traffic controls in both directions at 16:30 on August 5.

Guangdong upgraded its Flood Emergency Response from Level III to Level II at 14:00 on August 5. Meteorological authorities forecast persistent heavy rain to downpours across Guangdong from August 5 to 6. This intense precipitation episode is expected to end between August 7 and 8.
