Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport will arrange 7,300 flights a week during the summer and autumn flight season that will start Sunday and end Tuesday.
The number of flights is 3 percent higher than the previous flight season in 2020, and slightly higher than the winter-to-spring season between October 2020 and March 2021.
Airline companies in Shenzhen will add new flights and intensify domestic routes to meet the demand of the public with normal and routine COVID-19 prevention and control measures.
Flights picked up recovery since the end of February. Statistics showed the daily average passenger flow at the Shenzhen airport reached 130,000 from March 1 to 21. On March 19, the figure hit 151,400, equivalent to the pre-COVID-19 peak.
In the coming season, a new route from Shenzhen to Hailar in Inner Mongolia will be put into operation. Flights from Shenzhen to Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Chongqing, Xi’an, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Kunming, Haikou, Sanya and Wuhan will be increased. There will be over 130 routes from Shenzhen to other mainland destinations.
China Southern Airlines will open routes to Tianjin, Yinchuan via Wuhan and increase flights to Hangzhou.
The number of Shenzhen-Shanghai (Pudong and Hongqiao airports) flights, and Shenzhen-Beijing flights (Capital and Daxing airports) will reach 112 and 98 respectively, according to the Shenzhen airport.
The number of flights between Shenzhen and Chengdu, and Shenzhen and Hangzhou will be more than 50 a day. China Southern Airlines, Shenzhen Airlines and Hainan Airlines will use more wide-body planes to accommodate more passengers.
