A delegation from the ADCG (Arbeitsgemeinschaft Deutscher China-Gesellschaften e.V.), led by its president Dr. Peter Kreutzberger, is in town for a visit to gain a comprehensive understanding of Shenzhen.
The delegation, comprising a diverse group of 10 individuals including educators, skilled engineers, business representatives, and a travel blogger, arrived in Shenzhen on April 8th.
Fruitful exchanges were conducted between the delegation and key local authorities at the Shenzhen Park of the Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone on the morning of April 9th.
Representatives from the city’s foreign affairs office, the Hetao Development Authority, and the city’s investment promotion bureau engaged in insightful discussions, setting the stage for a day filled with exploration and discovery.
Dr. Kreutzberger, who had worked as a diplomat in China for 18 years, expressed his admiration for the city’s rapid development. His first visit to Shenzhen was in 1982.
“I already have a certain impression about this town and it is amazing how quick its development is. And every time I come here, the town has changed again,” he said.
Dr. Kreutzberger also noted the significant development of Hetao. “Hetao has developed largely in the last few years. It’s very modern here, and it’s changing all the time.”
The delegation’s composition reflected a mix of experiences and backgrounds, with some members being first-time visitors to China. Mohamed Ammer, a law student and travel blogger, shared his initial impressions, saying, “I’m struck by the abundance of greenery – the trees, plants, and the well-maintained streets and infrastructure.”
The delegation’s itinerary includes visits to innovative companies and educational institutions. A highlight of the trip will be an up-close encounter with the iconic Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, a symbol of modern engineering and regional connectivity.
Dr. Kreutzberger emphasized the diverse nature of the program, designed to offer a broad perspective of China. “They are positively surprised about what they see in China,” he said, adding that this trip is about fostering understanding and appreciation for the dynamic developments happening in China.
Established in 2016, ADCG is committed to promoting exchanges and cooperation in fields such as the economy, culture, science, youth, and sports between Germany and China.
