Shenzhen unveiled its city image film "Dare to be a Pioneer" during the opening ceremony of the 2024 Shenzhen Design Week at the Shenzhen Bay Intelligence Center in Nanshan District yesterday.

The video, initiated by the Publicity Department of the Shenzhen Municipal Committee of the CPC, narrates the story of a man who has overcome multiple obstacles and setbacks pursuing his dreams. It serves as a metaphor for Shenzhen's development over the past 40 years.

The video embodies the spirited essence of Shenzhen through the relentless pursuits of generations of strivers and builders who fearlessly made explorations and blazed trails with unwavering dedication.

Shenzhen is a city born of design, said Zhang Ling, director-general of the Publicity Department, at the opening ceremony. Over the past 45 years, Shenzhen has transformed from an undeveloped town into an influential international metropolis. The vibrant essence of Shenzhen has fostered a diverse and inclusive urban environment.

A climactic moment in the video depicts the main character spreading his wings and descending like a giant bird. This moment symbolizes not only the individual successfully chasing his dream but also represents Shenzhen's numerous bold initiatives that have been effectively implemented since the reform and opening up.

The pair of wings serves as a tangible representation of the aspirations associated with dreams, underscoring Shenzhen's consistent support for innovation and its unwavering encouragement for dreamers to strive for their goals.

Creativity and innovation are core elements represented in the city's image film. Shenzhen respects talents with innovative ideas, encourages people to create, and provides them with platforms to manifest their creative thoughts.

This video marks the second piece in a triad of the city's promotional videos, with the first one being released during last year's Shenzhen Design Week.
