Hidden in plain sight above one of Shenzhen’s busiest roads, a 105,000-square-meter green space has quietly opened to the public. Located in Nanshan District, the lawn sits atop the Binhai Boulevard tunnel, between the Shenzhen Bay Super Headquarters Base and the coast. Road traffic runs underground. Above, a landscaped waterfront balcony offers office workers and residents direct pedestrian access to the shoreline.
The space is divided into three zones. The eastern and western sections feature about 57,000 square meters of permanent green space. Visitors can walk, jog, or cycle along separate paths that connect to the waterfront boardwalk to the south.
At the center lies a roughly 48,000-square-meter temporary lawn, accessible for public use during the ongoing construction of the wider site. Visitors can relax on the grass and enjoy sweeping views of the open bay. This section is planned to become a park along the area’s central green axis.
