Introduction to the Park Featured attractions

Honghu Park, located in Luohu District and covering an area of 59.15 hectares, is a comprehensive urban park opened in April 1985. The park is characterized by a water-oriented landscape with lotus and bald cypress trees as its focal points.

With lotus as the centerpiece of its landscape during spring and summer months, Honghu Park has been committed to cultivating lotus landscapes, promoting lotus culture, preserving lotus germplasm resources, and supporting lotus-related scientific research and education since its establishment. In 2013, a 12,000-square-meter garden was constructed within the park, exclusively designed for the exhibition and presentation of premium lotus flower varieties.

The annual lotus fair has been serving as the park's signature event since its inception in 1988, featuring various sideline events themed on photography, flower arrangement, calligraphy, painting, public-service performances, popular science education, and gardening. Notably, the park hosted the country's ninth lotus expo in 1995.

Winter is the best season to admire the bald cypress forest on the southern part of the park, which stands out as the largest community of its kind in South China. During this season, the leaves of the trees undergo a gradual transition from greenish to burgundy-brick colors as the temperature drops, creating a spectacular scene reminiscent of an oil painting.

Park visitors can also picnic on the lawns, observing waterfowls and exotic plants such as Santa Cruz water lily (Victoria cruziana) and chilling in a public cultural center featuring integrated functions of a library, an exhibition hall, a nature education center, and a gallery.
