Yantian Port Checkpoint is located in the northwestern part of Dapeng Bay in Shenzhen, facing Hong Kong’s Kowloon Peninsula across the sea. It includes Yantian Port Area, Xiadong Port Area, and the dedicated wharves for Guangdong Dapeng Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG)and Shenzhen LNG.
The Yantian Port Area was officially approved to open for foreign vessels by the State Council in June, 1990 and officially opened in July, 1994. It currently has 20 berths open to international vessels.
The Xiadong Port Area was opened as a hazardous materials operation zone of Yantian Port Checkpoint by the approval of the State Council in December, 2002.
The Dedicated Wharf for Guangdong Dapeng LNG was opened to foreign vessels in March, 2007 following the approval of the State Council. It owns one appropriated berth for LNG vessels with berthing capacity of 80,000 tons and one berth for working vessels of 5,000 tons.
The Dedicated Wharf for Shenzhen LNG was opened for international operations in November, 2016, featuring a specialized dock designed for LNG vessels with capacities ranging from 80,000 to 266,000 cubic meters.
