Liantang Road Checkpoint is located in Liantang Subdistrict, Luohu District, Shenzhen, Guangdong Province. It borders Luosha Road to the north and extends south to the Shenzhen River. In Hong Kong, it is known as the "Heung Yuen Wai Boundary Control Point". Liantang Port is a crucial eastern hub, forming a significant part of the "West In, West Out; East In, East Out" cross-border traffic strategy between Shenzhen and Hong Kong. In September 2008, Shenzhen and Hong Kong authorities agreed to jointly construct Liantang Port. The construction officially commenced in November, 2013, and received the approval of the State Council to open to the outside world on October, 2019. It passed national inspections in May, 2020 and was officially activated for cargo inspection in August, 2020 and passenger inspection in February, 2023. Liantang Port operates under a “two inspections at two places” model, with direct access for both passengers and vehicles, and a “one-stop” clearance system for vehicles. Its designed capacity of clearance is 30,000 times for passenger and 18,000 times for vehicle per day. So far, its peak passenger traffic has exceeded 100,000 times and the daily average passenger flow reaches 65,000 times.
