Shenzhenwan Port, currently the largest comprehensive passenger and cargo highway checkpoint in Asia, is located at Dongjiaotou, Shekou in Shenzhen. It consists of the checkpoint area, Shenzhenwan Bridge, and the connecting highways. And it is connected with Aokanshi in Hong Kong through Shenzhenwan Bridge. With the area of 117.9 hectares (with 41.6 hectares belonging to Hong Kong and 76.3 hectares to Shenzhen), Shenzhenwan Port was officially opened on July 1, 2007, becoming the first land checkpoint in China to operate in the “two inspections at one place” mode. Its designed capacity of clearance is 60,000 times for passengers and 58,700 times for vehicles per day. Inside the passenger inspection building of this Checkpoint, 62 exit channels and 55 entry channels are in function.
In terms of the passenger inbound and outbound inspection, Shenzhen Customs District and Border Inspection Bureau have set up checkpoints on 17 small car channels and 2 motor coach channels respectively. In terms of the truck outbound inspection, Shenzhen Customs District sets up checkpoints on 27 channels and Border Inspection Bureau on 22 channels, while in terms of the truck inbound inspection, Shenzhen Customs District sets up checkpoints on 26 channels and the Border Inspection Bureau on 22 channels. Additionally, secondary inspection checkpoints are set up by Shenzhen Customs District on 12 channels.
