Huanggang Port, a vital connection between Shenzhen and the Hong Kong SAR, is situated in the southern part of Shenzhen. It is the comprehensive 24-hour passenger and cargo checkpoint in Shenzhen.
The construction of Huanggang Port commenced in May 1985, and it was officially opened to outside world on November 30, 1988, following the approval of the State Council, PRC. Part of cargo channels were put into operation on December 29, 1989, and the cargo inspection channels realized 24-hour service by November 3, 1994. On January 27, 2003, the passenger inspection channels also began 24-hour operations. In June 2019, the reconstruction project of Huanggang Port was formally launched. The old passenger inspection area has been demolished and replaced by a temporary passenger inspection building. The temporary building covers an area of 51,483 square meters, with a total floor area of approximately 14,000 square meters. Its first floor serves as the inspection hall for inbound and outbound passengers, while the mezzanine and second floor are allocated for service rooms. And there are 40 inspection channels for passengers and 8 channels for motor coaches.
