Shatoujiao Checkpoint, located in the west of Shatoujiao in Yantian District, Shenzhen, serves as an auxiliary comprehensive passenger and cargo checkpoint to Yantian, Longgang, and the eastern part of the Pearl River Delta. It borders the Shatoujiao Free Trade Zone and Yantian Port to the east and is connected to the Wutongshan road tunnel to the north. Shatoujiao Checkpoint was completed and put into use in March, 1985, and a new cross-border bridge for the checkpoint was put into operation on January 28, 2005. The original designed daily capacity of clearance was 10,000 times for passenger and 1,200 times for vehicle. On January 28, 2020, the Hong Kong SAR Government issued an announcement suspending passenger clearance services at Shatoujiao Checkpoint since January 30, 2020. Subsequently, on March 13, 2022, the Office of Port of Entry and Exit of Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government announced that cross-border truck drivers must drive adhere to designated routes under a closed-loop management system. Any entry or exit via Shatoujiao Checkpoint beyond the specified routes would be considered a violation.
