Zhang Zhanshuo made a splash at the Shenzhen Universiade Sports Center in Longgang District on November 10 by clinching the men’s 400m freestyle title at the 15th National Games, making this win the first gold medal of the swimming competition. The 18-year-old from Shandong clocked in at 3:42.82, setting a new world junior record amidst stiff competition from stars Pan Zhanle and Sun Yang, who finished fifth and sixth.
