Tyrell Mohamed Smith, a U.S. teacher from Shenzhen Middle School, receives a COVID-19 booster shot at Luohu People’s Hospital yesterday. He was among 15 expats working in Luohu District organized by the district’s foreign affairs bureau for group vaccination yesterday.

A total of 15 expats working in Luohu District in Shenzhen received their COVID-19 vaccination at the Zhidi physical examination department of Luohu People’s Hospital yesterday afternoon.

Most of the 15 expats received their COVID-19 booster shots. The group vaccination was organized by the district’s foreign affairs bureau.

Thanutporn Komannont, an 11-year-old Thai girl, who got her second shot, was accompanied by her mother who works for Kasikornbank (China) yesterday.

“I think the second shot hurt a bit more than the first one. I didn’t experience any discomfort after the first shot. People [medical workers] here are taking good care of me. The whole process is very fast,” Komannont said.

After receiving a booster shot yesterday, Andrew Gallie from the U.K., who works as a history teacher in Shenzhen Middle School, told Shenzhen Daily that vaccination is important not only for an individual, but also for society as a whole so we our lives return to “pre-COVID normal,” adding that medical workers are friendly and the vaccination process is convenient.

There was also an expat on site who worked as a volunteer to help foreigners have a smooth COVID vaccination experience.

Peter Rohner from Switzerland, who got fully vaccinated in Shenzhen, sees himself as a “Luohuer.” He said that he feels safe in Shenzhen and wants to thank the city by serving as a volunteer.

The Luohu foreign affairs bureau said it will organize more group vaccination for foreigners living and working in the district, if there is demand for the service.

At present, personal appointments for foreigners’ vaccinations are available via the jkshenzhen (健康深圳) WeChat account.
