Zhang Wei, 39, a sanitation worker, disinfects a garbage truck at a waste transfer station in Buji, Longgang District. Zhang, also a mother of two, works from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day at the transfer station. Her major responsibilities include cleaning and washing the station inside out, disinfecting garbage trucks, and ensuring that there is no backlog of waste at the station. Sanitation workers across the city have been praised as “unsung heroes” for their hard work during the pandemic.
