National flags hang on both sides of Shennan Boulevard in Futian District yesterday. Main streets in the city are decorated with national flags as the National Day approaches.

Shenzhen has been decorated in red with national flags and flowers to greet the upcoming National Day.

A total of 110,000 national flags have been hoisted along more than 500 roads, including Shennan Boulevard, Beihuan Boulevard, Binhai Boulevard and Qiaoxiang Road, according to the city’s urban management and law enforcement bureau yesterday.

National flags were also raised and hung in public parks across the city.

In addition, red, purple and pink flowers looking like a flying phoenix brightly adorn Shennan Boulevard.

Dead leaves have also been added to landscapes in Fairy Lake Botanical Garden in Luohu District to make it more environmentally friendly.

At the same time, food trucks providing light meals such as coffee, ice cream and desserts will be available in parks including Lianhua Hill Park, Shenzhen Bay Park, Honghu Park and Donghu Park during the National Day holiday from Oct. 1 to 7.

Meal service hours in some parks in the city will be extended to 10 p.m. during the holiday to satisfy a growing number of visitors, according to the municipal urban management authority.
