A new cultural venue is expected to be built in Minzhi Subdistrict, Longhua District, according to Shenzhen Municipal Public Works Bureau.

With its construction already underway, the New Hall of Shenzhen Cultural Center will be a cultural landmark that integrates education, exchanges, training, performances, exhibitions and cultural creativity and covers various groups and art categories.

It has also been listed as one of the major cultural facilities in the 14th Five-year Plan for Shenzhen’s cultural development.

The design concept for the New Hall focuses on boat and water, implying that “a boat of culture” floats on the Yousong River and sails in the “urban ocean.” Three squares are connected to form a promenade, and a performance street passes through a performance hall to the waterfront.

Meanwhile, citizens can get to the New Hall’s rooftop for city views.

The New Hall is anticipated to enhance the coverage and influence of the city’s cultural center industry and contribute to building Shenzhen into a regional cultural hub and a cultural and creative pioneering city in the world, according to Shenzhen Evening News.
