Line 4 extends half-way train service to off-peak periods

MTR Shenzhen, the operator of Metro Line 4, will put 15 half-way trains during off-peak periods on workdays and four trains at weekends starting from today to further improve its operation efficiency and capacity.


Passengers have applauded the operator’s half-way train service introduced Nov. 15, which was brought to meet the demand of late-night passengers by extending service by 30 to 44 minutes after the last departing at 11 p.m.


The updated service is a half-way train service extension to off-peak period, intensively serving from Niuhu to Longhua stations.


On workdays, seven half-way trains will be added during the off-peak period between 9:49 a.m. and 10:20 a.m. and eight will be added during the night period between 7:44 p.m. and 8:53 p.m. On weekends, four trains will be added between 9:57 p.m. and 10:56 p.m.


The operator estimates that the half-way train service will increase the line’s capacity by 5.5 percent.
