Phase I of the underground road project of Guiwan No. 1 Road, Linhai Boulevard and Binhai Boulevard was put into operation Friday.
The underground road project links Phase II of Nanping Expressway and Binhai Boulevard in the east and Guangzhou-Shenzhen Riverside Expressway in the south. It is a fast, underground traffic network connecting Qianhai with Nanshan, Longhua and Longgang.
The underground road system is planned at 9.81 kilometers. It has 33 underground parking lots offering 15,000 parking places.
With the opening of the main line project, the auxiliary lines will be put into operation soon.
The 3.03-kilometer underground section of Guiwan No. 1 Road and Linhai Boulevard was designed at 50 kilometers per hour. The 1.28-kilometer underground section of Binhai Boulevard was designed at 80 kilometers per hour.
Drivers from Shahe West Road can now drive to the underground road through Phase II of Nanping Expressway.
Drivers exiting from the underground road can reach Binhai Boulevard and Guangzhou-Shenzhen Riverside Expressway. The whole trip takes about 15 minutes.
