Recent warm days will quickly come to an end as the strongest cold front since the year 2016 will start to arrive in the city tomorrow night, according to the Shenzhen Meteorological Observatory.

Temperatures in Shenzhen will dip by more than 10 degrees Celsius during this round of cold air moving in.

A low of 5 degrees Celsius is expected on the morning of Thursday and Friday.

In addition, frost will be seen on Wutong Mountain and Qininag Mountain. The cold weather will continue until Jan. 3, according to the observatory.

Affected by the strong cold front, the air will be very dry, with a relative moisture of around 30 percent. Residents thus should be aware of electrical safety hazards.

As the strong cold wave will last for a long period of time, residents are advised to keep warm to avoid catching a cold and pay attention to the use of water heaters to prevent carbon monoxide gas poisoning.

At the same time, residents are warned of falling objects as there could be an accompanying strong wind. For safety reasons, citizens are also advised against strolling about elevated, coastal and sea areas during the time.
