The city’s transport bureau has reported road sections that are prone to congestion and holding excess water on roads, sznews.com reported Thursday.
In order to provide a reference for residents to travel safely in the active typhoon season in August, the bureau has given an estimation on roads that are prone to be congested and the points could be accumulate excess water under the help of big data.
Based on the data in the last few years, the commuting time during the morning and evening rush hours in a typhoon season will increase by 30 percent to 60 percent than the usual workdays.
The 10 road sections that are most likely to be congested during morning peak traffic hours on typhoon days are in Luohu, Nanshan, Longhua and Longgang districts. Specifically, Xianhu Road in Luohu and Renmin Road in Longhua will be most impacted.
And the 10 road sections that are most likely to be congested during evening peak hours on typhoon days are in Futian, Nanshan and Luohu districts. Specifically, Hongli Road in Futian and Tianbei No. 4 Road in Luohu will be most impacted.
Citizens are advised to pay increased attention to 128 places that will most likely accumulate water after heavy rains, especially road sections on Donghuan No. 1 Road, Xinzhou Road and Wenjin North Road as drivers and pedestrians will see places of dense standing water.
