Shenzhen's health commission released yesterday a list of 49 hospitals that provide outpatient service for febrile patients, as the city gears up to contain the spread of the new pneumonia.

The hospitals will set up independent areas for febrile patients, where special pre-examination points and observation rooms are set up and medical staff are on duty 24 hours a day.

Febrile patients will be put in an isolated consultation room for diagnosis and treatment. Meanwhile, they will be required to undergo a routine blood test and a chest X-ray, and a pharyngeal swab specimen will be collected to test for common pathogens like flu. Once confirmed, the patients will be transferred to a designated hospital.

The commission suggests that citizens who have been to Wuhan but show no symptoms should not panic and that they can rule out the possibility of infection if they show no symptoms for two weeks.
