Typhoon, cold front bring rains, gales

There will be more showers today, and winds will be the strongest around this evening, affected by Typhoon Nalgae and a cold front from the north, according to Shenzhen Meteorological Observatory.


The city issued a blue alert for Typhoon Nalgae on Monday and might upgrade the typhoon alert level to yellow this morning, the observatory said yesterday afternoon.


The city government activated a Grade-4 emergency response for the typhoon Monday.


The typhoon was located about 418 kilometers southeast of the city as of 3 p.m. yesterday and is expected to be about 250 kilometers from Shenzhen tonight.


The tropical storm might make landfall along the coast from Yangdong in Guangdong to Wenchang in Hainan tomorrow.


This morning, the lowest temperature will be about 18 degrees Celsius.


Starting tomorrow afternoon, gales and rains will abate and temperatures will climb back slightly, according to weather forecast.
