Three Cruzr robots developed by Shenzhen robot maker UBTECH have become the cultural ambassadors at the China Bamboo Garden of the Floriade Expo 2022, a decennial world horticultural exhibition that is being held in Almere, the Netherlands.

The robots provide services such as guided explanation, reception, interactive entertainment and epidemic prevention information broadcasting in the China Bamboo Garden’s main exhibition hall, leading global tourists to appreciate the beauty of the garden, a poetic landscape featuring flowers and bamboos.

According to UBTECH, the company is the only official intelligent robot service provider at the China Bamboo Garden. The company’s presence in the Floriade Expo 2022 is the company’s new exploration to apply its technologies in scenarios where technology and culture are integrated, following the Expo 2020 Dubai.

During the Expo 2020 Dubai, which was held from Oct. 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022, UBTECH’s intelligent robots greeted visitors and provided on-site services in several scenarios at the China Pavilion.

The China Bamboo Garden, covering a 4,200-square-meter area, is the largest among national pavilions at the expo and is divided into three exhibition areas and six special scenarios.

The garden reflects the concept of “Growing Green Cities,” the theme of the Floriade Expo 2022, through its innovative use of bamboo processing materials and techniques that draws inspiration from traditional Chinese culture.

It also integrates the long-standing Chinese flower and bamboo cultures, and highlights flowers and plants with Chinese characteristics as well as the concept of green development.

The China Bamboo Garden will also host the China National Pavilion Day and themed events of some Chinese provinces and cities during the exhibition period. Other cultural events showcasing bamboo handicrafts, Chinese intangible cultural heritage and Chinese painting and calligraphy will also be held, according to a Xinhua report.

The Floriade Expo 2022, which runs until Oct. 9, is expected to attract 2 million visitors. Floriade is a once-a-decade world horticultural exhibition in the Netherlands. Its first edition was held in 1960 in Rotterdam.
