Construction on Shenzhen Metro projects at 453 construction sites has been in full swing since March and 50,000 people have been working hard to ensure these projects’ progress and three lines’ operation in the year.

Metro lines 12, 14 and Line 6’s spur line will put into operation this year, bringing the total length of the city’s Metro network to 500 kilometers, the operator said recently.

Line 14, a fully automated line that runs through Pingshan, Longgang, Luohu and Futian, will be the first Metro line in Pingshan District. The 50-kilometer line starts from Gangxia North Station in Futian and ends at Shatian Station in Pingshan. It has 18 stations and is designed at a maximum speed of 120 kilometers per hour.

At Gangxia North Station, over 1,000 workers are busy on the project. The transport hub will be the interchange station of Lines 2, 10, 11 and 14.

Line 12 starts from Zuopaotai Station in Nanshan and ends at Waterlands Resort Station in Bao’an, passing Nanshan CBD, Bao’an CBD, Fuyong area, the airport area and Shenzhen World Exhibition and Convention area. It has a total of 33 stations and will be put into use at the end of 2022.

The 6.14-kilometer spur line of Line 6 has four stations and will be connected with Dongguan’s Line 1. It will exchange with Line 6 at Guangming Station. It is scheduled to open before the end of June.
