Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport’s emergency pickup lane for taxis was recently put into use, easing late-night arrival passengers’ difficulties waiting in long queues to get a ride.
The emergency pickup lane can serve about 300 passengers an hour, with queuing time no more than 10 minutes, according to the Shenzhen airport.
The 14-slot pickup lane is located on the east side of the Ground Traffic Center’s (GTC) first floor. The lane is used when regular taxi lanes get too crowded with waiting passengers or during peak flight arrival times.
The regular three-lane, 50-slot taxi lanes can handle about 1,500 passengers an hour.
However, during busy days like weekends and holidays, taxi lanes outside Gate 13 on the GTC’s second floor, get busy and crowded with late-night arrivals when the Metro services are suspended.
