The international service team at the Longhua District Administrative Service Hall recently received a letter of thanks from an expatriate resident from Iran.

The Iranian, who identified as Elahi Borhan and is the legal representative of a company, went to the administrative service hall in Minzhi Subdistrict to change the address of his office from Qianhai to Longhua on Oct. 28 and was advised to seek help from the international service team at the district administrative service hall.

Borhan went to the district administrative service hall the next day and managed to update his personal information and to change the address of his company under the English guidance of staffers at the hall.

“I got the updated certificate for my company on the spot in the hall, which might have previously taken around 10 days,” said Borhan in his letter of thanks.

Also in July, four foreign teachers from Merchiston International School in Longhua District visited the hall to update their government service accounts. The hall opened a special counter for them and arranged for English translators to help them solve their problems.

Besides English, the team has also recruited staffers who speak other foreign languages such as Spanish, French and Japanese to better serve the expatriate residents and to facilitate the handling of relevant service items, according to the Longhua District Government Services and Data Management Bureau.

In another development, the bureau opened a special counter for Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan compatriots in the Longhua District Innovation and Entrepreneurship Service Center near the Shenzhen North Railway Station. The counter offers a total of 291 government service items on taxation, social insurance, medical care and more.

Additionally, Longhua District has led the city in promoting self-service medical insurance and social security terminals for Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan compatriots.

They can use their social security cards on the terminals to handle a total of 33 kinds of medical insurance and social security-related service items at eight administrative halls across the district including the Longhua District Administrative Service Hall, Longhua District Innovation and Entrepreneurship Service Center and the Hongshan International Service Center.
