SZ hosts first ASEAN-China innovation cooperation fourm

The first ASEAN-China International Forum on Innovation Cooperation was held Friday and Saturday at The Langham, Shenzhen in Futian District, spotlighting future international cooperation and development visions between China and ASEAN countries.


The forum attracted nearly 200 guests to exchange ideas on China-ASEAN cooperation in emerging industries and technological innovation to jointly promote the cooperation’s new development.


The two-day forum included five panels with topics such as digital economy and currency, smart cities and connectivity, industrial parks and international cooperation, ASEAN-China strategic cooperation in the changing world, as well as RCEP and ASEAN-Greater Bay Area international cooperation.


Zainu Abidin Rasheed, ambassador of Singapore to Kuwait and a member of Nanyang Technological University Board of Trustees, delivered a keynote speech at the opening ceremony Friday via video link to introduce the vision and development of Singapore’s “Smart Nation.”


The forum’s organizer, Shenzhen University (SZU), also inaugurated its Center for ASEAN-Greater Bay Area Studies, during the opening ceremony Friday morning.


The center is devoted to academic research in political, economic and trade areas in ASEAN countries and applied research into international relationships and industrial, scientific and technological cooperation between the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and ASEAN countries.
