The average annual salaries of the Chinese University of Hong Kong Shenzhen (CUHK-SZ) bachelor’s degree holders who graduated last year hit 151,000 yuan (US$23,178), according to a job quality report released by CUHK-SZ on Tuesday.
The overall employment rate for graduates deciding not to pursue further studies was 95.08 percent, remaining in forefront of renowned Chinese mainland universities.
Based on the report, about 75 percent of all fresh graduates seeking jobs have successfully been employed by China’s top 500 companies and top 500 international companies as well as listed and multinational enterprises such as Alibaba, Tencent, Bilibili, Meituan and P&G.
Nearly 90 percent of them turned to job opportunities from the country’s first-tier cities such as Shenzhen, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Beijing.
Some 74 percent of them found a job in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, up 3.96 percent from a year earlier.
The proportion of those who stayed in Shenzhen for work was up 7.13 percent year on year, reaching 64.15 percent.
Meanwhile, around 73 percent of the 2020 CUHK-SZ’s graduates decided to pursue higher studies.
According to the report, some 68 percent of them have been admitted to top universities around the world, including the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), University of Oxford, Nanyang Technological University and the University of Tokyo, for postgraduate programs.
