SZ counts up large scientific instruments

Shenzhen is carrying out statistical work on the city’s large-scale scientific instruments to open them for use by more innovative entrepreneurs, the city’s science, technology and innovation commission said Wednesday.


Statistics show that by the end of December 2020, 499 instrument management units and 4,337 users had been registered in the city’s large-scale scientific instrument sharing platform.


The total number of instruments in the sharing platform reaches 9,262 with an original value of 8.11 billion yuan (US$1.25 billion). The number of instruments open for use is 5,612 and the sharing rate stands at 60.59 percent.

The 9,262 registered scientific instruments are widely distributed across the city, according to the statistical results.


Nanshan District is home to 5,626 scientific instruments, while there are 805 in Longgang District, 635 in Bao’an, 524 in Longhua, 484 in Futian, 405 in Guangming, 346 in Pingshan, 221 in Dapeng New Area, 160 in Luohu and 56 in Yantian.


In terms of distribution, Nanshan has the largest number of instruments, accounting for 60.74 percent of the total in the city, which is highly consistent with the positioning of the district as a science and technology innovation hub.


The large scientific instruments are mainly distributed in enterprises, universities, scientific research institutes and hospitals.


The instruments on the sharing platform can be classified into 15 categories, among which analytical instruments account for 37.28 percent of the total, according to the data.


The platform has 3,453 analytical instruments, 1,062 sets of test equipment, 783 electronic measuring instruments, 763 computers and their supporting equipment, 703 sets of physical equipment, 225 medical diagnostic instruments, 203 measuring instruments, 109 lasers, 107 special detection instrum
