Nanshan District plans to become a coastal central business district (CBD) by 2025, with its GDP reaching 1 trillion yuan (US$154 billion), Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported yesterday, citing the Nanshan District Party congress recently held at Nanshan Conference Hall.
According to the report, during the 13th Five-Year Plan, the district had increased its GDP from 371.5 billion yuan in 2015 to 650 billion yuan in 2020.
In the following five-year plan, it will commence construction on a world-class innovative coastal CBD.
And by 2025 the district will realize the GDP of 1 trillion yuan, basically completing its set goal.
In the past year, Nanshan District witnessed the strengthening of its comprehensive power, with its major economic indicators vigorously rebounding.
It is expected that its GDP would increase by around 5 percent, with the tax income of 170.9 billion yuan and the public budget revenue of 31.66 billion yuan.
As a result, its position as the No. 1 district in Guangdong Province has been further consolidated.
This year marks the opening of the 14th Five-Year Plan, and the district targets to increase its GDP by about 6 percent this year.
According to its step-by-step development plan, Nanshan District will take the lead in realizing socialist modernization and become the demonstration district of Shenzhen in terms of global influence and innovation, entrepreneurship and creativity by 2035.
