Blind piano player catches the ears in Huaqiangbei

Audience members admire Zhang Dandan’s performance at Huaqiangbei Pedestrian Street. The 19-year-old performer chased his piano dreams in Shenzhen from his hometown Haozhou in Anhui Province. He has played the public piano in the street for passers-by for four months. Zhang lost his eyesight in an accident when he was just a newborn baby. But he did not lose faith in life and developed an interest in music. After he came to Shenzhen, several kind-hearted people helped him settle in the city and have found a free piano teacher for him. “So many people helped me here. I feel warm. Shenzhen is a city full of love,” Zhang said.
