The start of fall in Shenzhen will be later this year, marking the latest ever recorded.

Based on the meteorological standard set for fall, which is when the average temperature over five days gets no higher than 22 degrees Celsius, Shenzhen at present is not in fall yet.

This fact means that Shenzhen will embrace the fall latest in its history. The year 2015 was the last time Nov. 25 marked the start of the fall season in Shenzhen.

According to meteorologists, the average date for Shenzhen to enter fall is on Nov. 3. However, the date has been delayed to Nov. 10 since 2000.

The delay is mainly due to the atmospheric circulation. Affected by climate change, the subtropical high in northwest Pacific area is strong.

During the transition period from summer to fall, weak cold air along with strong subtropical high temperatures have resulted in difficulty for cold air to arrive in Shenzhen.

Shenzhen has an average 196 days of summer, 69 days of fall, 24 days of winter and 76 days of spring, according to relevant data.

Rains are barely seen in fall in the city. It is reported that a fall drought of varying degrees has been seen in the city each year.

The average temperature in the city during the fall season is 18.2 degrees Celsius. It is rather more important for city residents to protect themselves against the sun during the fall.

Starting Friday, temperatures will drop due to cold air, with the low expected to be 15 degrees Celsius on Monday, according to information released by Shenzhen Meteorological Observatory.
