Shenzhen has rolled out the country’s first electronic toll collection (ETC) plan for taxis, which enables the combined settlement of taxi fares and tolls, and the issue of electronic invoices for WeChat payments, the Daily Sunshine reported Thursday.

Under the plan, one ETC account can be bound to multiple drivers’ WeChat payment accounts, and one driver’s WeChat payment account can also be bound to the ETC systems of multiple taxis.

Shenzhen has also established an online car-hailing business license platform and launched a new government service mode for online car-hailing license application.

Zhang Yongping, head of the city’s public transportation authority, said Shenzhen has been vigorously promoting the transformation and upgrading of the taxi industry and improving taxi services.

The city has taken a firm stance in strictly regulating online car-hailing platforms and the qualification process of vehicles and drivers, according to Zhang.

It is reported that Shenzhen has also made use of big data, with reference to the number of complaints, irregularities and traffic violations, to objectively evaluate the service level of taxi drivers.
