A liquefied natural gas (LNG) pipeline constructed by China National Offshore Oil Corp. (CNOOC) was recently connected with Diefubei LNG Peak-shaving Station and has started a joint test with China National Petroleum Corp.

The connection marked the completion of the pipeline that can supply 36 million cubic meters of LNG a day to the national gas grid, CNOOC Shenzhen Natural Gas Co. Ltd. said.

After the test and operation, CNOOC Shenzhen will be ready to send the gas to northern cities during the winter season through the gas pipeline grid.

It plays an important role to ensure gas supplies, gas deployment and stable operations in the national pipeline network.

To relieve the supply crunch during winter, especially in the northern regions in China, CNOOC Shenzhen, following the arrangement of State agencies, started construction of the 1.9-km pipeline in April 2019 to connect its gas-receiving terminal in Dapeng with Diefubei LNG Peak-shaving Station which is operated by China National Petroleum Corp.

CNOOC’s Dapeng gas-receiving terminal went into operation in August 2018 and has a capacity to receive 4 million tons of gas per year. It is CNOOC’s second LNG terminal in Shenzhen and the ninth terminal nationwide.
