Postdoctoral researchers get subsidies

A total of 29 postdoctoral researchers from the Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology (SIAT), Chinese Academy of Sciences will receive subsidies from the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation this year, Shenzhen Economic Daily reported yesterday.


The number of postdoctoral researchers from SIAT who are subsidized by the foundation has ranked first among Chinese scientific research institutes for four consecutive years.


The 29 researchers, whose research interests mainly focus on biology, materials science and engineering, and biomedical engineering, will receive subsidies totaling 2.32 million yuan (US$328,048).


Looking at colleges and universities, 63 postdoctoral researchers from Shenzhen University (SZU) will be subsidized by the foundation.


Sun Yat-sen University, Tsinghua University and Zhejiang University are the top three universities with the most researchers to be funded this year, while SZU ranks ninth on the list.
