Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) was ranked 14th best university on the Chinese mainland and 323rd in World University Rankings of 2021 released by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), a global higher education research company, yesterday.
It was the first time for SUSTech to be listed in the ranking and marked another prominent milestone on its path to be a top global university, and one of the leading universities in China.
This confirmation came only days after Times Higher Education ranked SUSTech 8th on the Chinese mainland and 33rd best university in Asia in their recent Asia University Rankings 2020.
The QS World University Rankings lists 1,002 institutions from 93 countries across the globe, including 51 Chinese universities.
SUSTech had excellent scores across all six ranking metrics — academic reputation (40 percent), employer reputation (10 percent), faculty-student ratio (20 percent), citations per faculty (20 percent), international faculty (5 percent) and international students (5 percent). In the category of faculty-student ratio, SUSTech rose to the top position on the mainland and 58th globally, with an ideal score of 96.7 points.
