The Bantian-Yinhu Passage, which links Bantian in Longgang District with Futian and Luohu districts, will be put into operation this May, according to the construction project center of the Shenzhen transport bureau.

The time it takes to travel between Bantian and Futian CBD will be cut to 12 minutes with the overpass, the Daily Sunshine reported.

“The city’s first bus stop on an overpass will be set up on the passage, and elevators will be built to help passengers reach buses and Metro trains. It will be connected with the Nigang Footbridge over Beihuan Boulevard for residents’ convenience,” said Deng Zike, project manager with the construction center.

The north-south road is expected to relieve traffic pressure at the Meilin and Qingping checkpoints, and public transport will be given priority right of way on the passage, with one 24-hour bus lane on each side of the six-lane road.

Two pairs of back-to-back bus stops, namely Tiyuguan West Station and Yinhu Overpass Station, will be set up in the middle of the overpass, rather than at opposite roadsides, for passengers’ convenience. The passage is connected with Metro Line 7 at Huangmugang Station and lines 6 and 9 at Yinhu Station.

The 7.64-kilometer-long Bantian-Yinhu Passage includes a 4.6-kilometer tunnel through Jigong Mountain in the Yinhu area and three interchange flyovers over Nigang Road, Beihuan Boulevard and Nanping Expressway.
