More than 80 percent of sizeable enterprises in Shenzhen have resumed production and operation as of Feb. 21, according to information released by the industry and information technology department of Guangdong Province.

These enterprises include big manufacturing brands TCL and Skyworth. With comprehensive precautionary measures in place, Skyworth’s 12 subsidiary companies have commenced production as did TCL CSOT, an affiliate of TCL, the Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported.

A staffer with TCL told a reporter with the daily that they have submitted papers to relevant departments as required and stocked enough epidemic-control materials to prevent the spread of the epidemic while ensuring maintained production capacity.

“Every employee is required to wear masks before entering workshops. We have also prepared 80 quarantine rooms,” said a staffer from TCL.

Skyworth has gone out of their way to buy bulk epidemic control materials including 400,000 face masks, protective gear and alcohol-based disinfectant before the start of production.

There are more than 10,000 permanent workers in Skyworth industrial park in Bao’an District. In order to contain the virus, workers are placed at the entrance of the park to check visitors’ ID card and body temperature. Vehicles are also disinfected before entry.

Additionally, these workers’ relevant information has been recorded. A total of 40 rooms with 200 beds are available for people in need of quarantine.

At present, nearly 50 percent of Skyworth’s employees have returned to work. The back-to-work rate is expected to reach over 80 percent by the end of the month, said the report.

Refrigeration equipment company Midea chartered two flights from Handan airport in Hebei Province to Shenzhen with 335 of its employees on board to help normalize business operations during the ongoing virus fight.

Other companies including Heng An Group, Han’s Laser and the Nanshan District human resource department have also cooperated with Shenzhen Airlines to transport their employees back to Shenzhen on chartered flights, the Shenzhen Economic Daily reported.
