The 11th Shenzhen International Industrial Design Fair (SZIDF) is scheduled to take place at Hall 2 of the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center in Futian District from Nov. 23 to 26, according to the fair’s organizer, the Shenzhen Industrial Design Profession Association (SIDA).

This year, the fair will launch the 2023 Brilliance in Future Design project in a bid to bolster the growth of budding Chinese designers and establish a dynamic communication platform for global design elites.

The project is open to individuals of all nationalities and seeks to attract founders of design institutions or brand managers under the age of 35, leading teams or enterprises of no more than 10 people.

The initiative is actively searching for young designers with outstanding performance and professional achievements in industrial design, packaging design, clothing design, interior design, architectural design, landscape design, and related fields.

Applicants are required to submit three individually led innovation projects at most. The submissions should be original, reflect a sense of design responsibility, prioritize user-centered design, showcase a fusion of innovative concepts and practical applications, demonstrate novel material applications, and contribute to the advancement of the design industry, environmental sustainability, and design education.

The deadline for applications is Oct. 31. The top 10 design elites will be determined through a voting process from Nov. 3 to 10, with the winners being officially announced from Nov. 23 to 26.

The top 10 design elites will be granted complimentary booths at the Brilliance in Future Design exhibition area at the 11th SZIDF, along with favorable policies for the next two years, according to SIDA.

They can enjoy a 50% booth subsidy for participating in SZIDF in the second year, and a 30% booth subsidy in the third year.

SZIDF, first held in 2013, is dedicated to amplifying Shenzhen’s and China’s influence in the realm of design.

Statistics show that Shenzhen currently boasts around 150,000 industrial designers. It ranks first in China in terms of the total number of accolades received from two prestigious global design awards, the iF Design Award and the Red Dot Design Award.
